TOYTEPA, THE NEW REGIONAL CENTER OF TASHKENT REGION, RENAMED TO NURAFSHON
The Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan at the 11th plenary meeting approved the decision to rename Toytepa to Nurafshon.
The day before, the upper house of parliament approved the change of Toytepa borders, referring the town to the category of towns of regional subordination and its definition as the administrative center of Tashkent region.
Earlier, Tashkent region did not have an administrative center. At the beginning of the year, the capital’s regional administration was transferred from Tashkent to Toytepa.
Now the project of full reconstruction of the town is being implemented, developed jointly with South Korean specialists. It is planned that Nurafshon will become the first ‘smart’ town in Uzbekistan.
